Frequently Asked Questions

What does Community Transit Insurance Program Do?
CTIP places insurance, claims management and risk management to its members. It also provides an avenue for Public Transit to work among themselves seamlessly to provide the type and limits of insurance required.

Can my current broker be involved?
Yes! Your broker can reach out to us directly and we can work with them to see if this program will be right for you.

Do I need to perform a procurement to join a RPG?
Because the RPG is a non-profit organization solely owned by its members, you do not need to perform a procurement. As always, you should check with your legal counsel to determine any specific rules in your state regarding captives.

Who can join the RPG?
Your entity must be either a Governmental Public Transit or a Not-for-Profit Federally-funded Transit system to join.

Will this program cover my other operations such as a day care or senior center?
No, this program will only cover liability exposures for transit operations. We have the ability to place additional insurance outside of the RPG program.

Will I be required to adopt a specific Risk Management Program?
Currently, we do not require a specific program, but there will be standards required for hiring, training, driver monitoring and other specific risk management profile items.

What lines of business will be covered?
The RPG will provide liability coverage for Transit operations. CTIP can place all other lines of coverage separately.

Will I have my own policy form?
The Liability coverage provided by the RPG will have a master policy where the coverage and terms are the same for all members.

What does my entity have to do to join?
You will have to apply for insurance coverage and upon accepting coverage, your board will have to adopt the by-laws and membership agreement for the RPG. Your membership will run concurrent with your 12-month policy period. Underwriting will begin 120 days before your expiration date to ensure that you meet the underwriting and membership guidelines of the RPG.
